Winnebago RV Service and Repair in Chino, CA

Winnebago has been building coaches longer than almost anyone, and there are more of them parked around the Inland Empire than any other brand. McBride's services them at our shop in Chino, where the 60 meets the 71, and we handle the whole coach rather than one system at a time: collision and full body paint in a 40-foot enclosed booth, roofs, slide-outs, house systems, Onan generators and chassis service, under one roof. Family-owned here since 1967. Below is what actually goes wrong on these coaches and how we approach it.

Which Winnebago models do you work on

Which Winnebago models do you work on?

All of them, gas and diesel, motorized and towable. The Class A gas coaches on the Ford F-53 chassis, the diesel pushers on Freightliner rails, the Class C models built on Ford and Chevrolet cutaways, the Mercedes Sprinter based View and Navion, the Class B camper vans on Sprinter, Transit and ProMaster, and the towable line. Older coaches are welcome and are a large part of what comes through the shop. A twenty-year-old Winnebago with a sound structure is very often worth repairing properly, and we will tell you honestly when it is not.

The practical point is that the coach and the chassis are two different service problems. The house is Winnebago's work. The chassis underneath it is Ford, Freightliner, Mercedes or Chevrolet, and it has its own service schedule that owners routinely miss because it does not come up when the coach is parked.

What actually fails on a Winnebago?

What actually fails on a Winnebago

Most of it is not made by Winnebago, and understanding that saves owners a lot of time. The generator is Onan. The roof air, refrigerator and awning come from Dometic, Coleman or Carefree. The slide mechanisms, frames and suspension components are supplier parts. What Winnebago builds is the structure, the layout, and how all of those pieces are put together, and that is where brand-specific knowledge matters most.

The failures we see repeatedly:

$

Full body paint breaking down.

The higher trim levels carry full body paint and multi-color graphics rather than gelcoat with decals, and it is beautiful until the clear coat starts to go. In this climate it goes. That is our home ground, and it is covered on our RV paint and body repair page.

$

Sealant at the cap seams.

Front and rear caps meeting the roof are the highest-maintenance joint on the coach, and they are what put owners into a roof conversation. We already have a post on [Winnebago roof replacements](/winnebago-roof-replacements/), and the full picture is on our RV roof repair and replacement page.

$

Slide-outs, and the mechanism matters.

The larger coaches run hydraulic slides. Many of the smaller motorized and towable models use in-wall electric slide systems, which fail differently: the two sides lose sync, the gear tracks wear, and forcing a slide that has gone out of sync turns an adjustment into a repair. Stop using it and bring it in.

$

Water getting into a laminated wall or floor.

Winnebago sidewalls are laminated, and once water gets behind the skin the bond fails and you get a soft floor or a bubbled wall. That is delamination, and it is covered on our RV floor repair page.

$

The generator that has not run.

Onan sets that sit unused gum up their fuel systems. It is the single most common generator complaint we get, on every brand, and it is preventable. See our RV generator service page.

Do you service the Ford F-53 chassis under a Winnebago?

Yes. We service the Ford F-53 gas chassis and the diesel chassis under the larger coaches, including oil and fluid service, brakes, suspension and transmission work, on our RV chassis service side of the shop. This is capability, not a manufacturer certification claim, and we will always tell you plainly which is which.

Chassis service is the most commonly skipped maintenance on a motorhome, because owners think in trips rather than in miles and months. Brake and suspension components age on a coach that sits, and a heavy vehicle that has been parked for a season deserves a look before a long run.

Why do Winnebago owners in Southern California end up needing paint work?

Sun. A coach that lives outdoors here takes year-round UV plus the heat cycling of an Inland Empire summer, and clear coat is the first thing to give up. Owners who run the 10 out to the desert or the 15 toward Vegas add road film and stone chipping to that, and a chip that goes through the clear is where the failure starts spreading. Full body paint, which is exactly what makes the higher Winnebago trims look expensive, is also what makes them expensive to restore, and it needs a booth long enough to finish a full coach in one pass. Ours is 40 feet and enclosed, which is why coaches come to Chino for it from across the region.

My Winnebago was damaged. Do you handle the insurance claim

My Winnebago was damaged. Do you handle the insurance claim?

Yes, in-house. We document the damage, build the estimate, and work any supplement directly with your adjuster. McBride's is a preferred shop for several major carriers and works regularly with National General (GMAC), Progressive, AAA, SafeCo, Foremost, Liberty Mutual, GEICO and Mercury, among others. An estimate becomes binding once your carrier approves it, coverage comes down to your policy, and only you authorize the repair. Details are on our RV insurance claims page.

Collision on a large coach is rarely just a panel. Behind a damaged cap or sidewall there is often structure, and we open it up and show you before we quote it.

Do you offer mobile RV repair or house calls?

No. McBride's is an in-shop repair facility at 13788 Oaks Ave in Chino, and we do not send technicians to your location or to a storage lot. On a coach this size that is not a limitation worth apologizing for: paint needs a booth, structural work needs the coach supported, and a generator needs to be tested under load. Bring it to Chino and the whole repair happens under one roof.

Frequently asked questions about Winnebago service

Do I have to take my Winnebago to a dealer?

For manufacturer-covered repairs on a coach still inside its coverage period, the manufacturer decides where that work happens, so start with them. For everything outside that, including collision, paint, and any repair you are paying for yourself, you choose the shop. Most of what we do falls in the second category.

Can you get Winnebago parts?

Most of what fails is a supplier component, Onan, Dometic, Coleman, Carefree, or a chassis part, and those we source routinely. Coach-specific parts such as caps, panels and interior trim depend on the model year and availability, and we tell you up front when a part is going to drive the timeline rather than the labor.

How old is too old to repair?

There is no fixed answer and anyone who gives you one is guessing. The real question is whether the structure and the floor are sound, because those are what cost real money. A twenty-five-year-old coach with a solid structure and a tired finish is usually worth the work. One with a rotted subfloor and delaminated walls usually is not, and we will say so.

Do you work on Winnebago towables, or only motorhomes?

Both.

Where are you, and how far do people come?

We are at 13788 Oaks Ave in Chino, CA 91710. Owners bring coaches to us from Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, Montclair, Upland, Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, off the 91 and the 15 from Corona, Norco, Eastvale and Riverside, and down the 57 from Yorba Linda and North Orange County.

Labor rate is kinda high so I’d only use them for the stuff I couldn’t do myself. Overall good experience. Seemed like it was there longer than needed could’ve been waiting on parts not sure. I’d use them again. - 6/17/2026

I took my 1997 renovation project Fleetwood PaceArrow in for major mechanical service. I also paid for an hour of inspection on my failed slide out and got a great quote on the labor and parts for when I'm ready to invest in that repair next. I was a little weary initially that the service price on the phone when I called was told to me as around $500 range and then in person at drop-off the price was actually around $900 for the major service. But the girl who took my appointment over the phone had warned me that she was new and wasn't certain of the prices on anything. The service was great and I'm glad I chose to continue despite the wide price difference to what I was anticipating. Mike and Danny are stellar, and I know the place I'll be bringing my renovation back to with any repair needs in the future that I can't handle myself. The quotes for the slide out, and suggested drive train work, were both also very reasonable. - 6/04/2026

Took my toy hauler for an estimate to fix slide, generator and transfer fuel pump. Parts needed to be ordered and since I had a trip coming up I picked up my trailer. When parts arrived took it back and it was completed in 2 days. Their staff is very friendly. What I really like about them is their scheduling. Gave me a date and time for both drop offs and pick ups. I was very satisfied with their work and highly recommend them. - 3/12/2026
