Understanding the RV Insurance Claim Process

=

Step 1: Initiating Your Insurance Claim

  • Only the policyholder or lienholder can start a claim.
  • Contact your insurance provider and provide details of the incident.
  • Expect to give a recorded statement about what happened.
  • Receive your claim number – this is important for tracking your claim.
=

Step 2: Types of Insurance Claims

Not all insurance claims are the same. Knowing the difference can help you navigate the process more effectively.

📌 Collision Claim

  • Covers damage from driving-related accidents (e.g., hitting another vehicle, object, or structure).
  • May increase your insurance premium if you’re found at fault.
  • Typically involves a deductible that you must pay.

📌 Comprehensive Claim

  • Covers non-collision damage (e.g., weather, vandalism, theft, or falling objects).
  • Usually does NOT increase your premium.
  • Different deductibles may apply depending on your policy.
=

Step 3: Providing the Right Documentation

Insurance companies often require the following:

Photos of the damage from multiple angles.
Incident report or police report (if applicable).
Insurance policy details for verification.
Vehicle registration and ownership documents.

What Happens After Filing a Claim?

Getting an Estimate & Approving Repairs

  • You have the right to choose your RV Paint & Body shop – don’t let insurers force you to use their preferred facility.
  • Your insurance provider may conduct an independent damage assessment, but one expert estimate from McBride’s RV is usually sufficient.
  • Once approved, repairs can begin immediately at our state-of-the-art facility.

💡 McBride’s RV can assist with documentation and ensure everything is submitted correctly for a smooth approval process.

How Long Do RV Repairs Take?

Each repair is unique, but we provide detailed timelines based on the extent of damage and required work. We know your RV is your home away from home, so we work efficiently to minimize downtime without compromising quality.

Labor rate is kinda high so I’d only use them for the stuff I couldn’t do myself. Overall good experience. Seemed like it was there longer than needed could’ve been waiting on parts not sure. I’d use them again. - 6/17/2026

I took my 1997 renovation project Fleetwood PaceArrow in for major mechanical service. I also paid for an hour of inspection on my failed slide out and got a great quote on the labor and parts for when I'm ready to invest in that repair next. I was a little weary initially that the service price on the phone when I called was told to me as around $500 range and then in person at drop-off the price was actually around $900 for the major service. But the girl who took my appointment over the phone had warned me that she was new and wasn't certain of the prices on anything. The service was great and I'm glad I chose to continue despite the wide price difference to what I was anticipating. Mike and Danny are stellar, and I know the place I'll be bringing my renovation back to with any repair needs in the future that I can't handle myself. The quotes for the slide out, and suggested drive train work, were both also very reasonable. - 6/04/2026

We had invisible brakes installed on our jeep to tow behind our coach. They worked extra hard to finish the job so we could take the jeep on vacation. Thank you McBride's RV. - 3/22/2026

Took my toy hauler for an estimate to fix slide, generator and transfer fuel pump. Parts needed to be ordered and since I had a trip coming up I picked up my trailer. When parts arrived took it back and it was completed in 2 days. Their staff is very friendly. What I really like about them is their scheduling. Gave me a date and time for both drop offs and pick ups. I was very satisfied with their work and highly recommend them. - 3/12/2026
