Thor Motor Coach Service and Repair in Chino, CA

Thor Motor Coach builds more motorhomes than anybody else in the country, which means a lot of them end up parked around the Inland Empire, and a lot of them eventually end up here. McBride's services them at our shop in Chino, and we take the whole coach rather than one system at a time: collision and full body paint in a 40-foot enclosed booth, decal and graphics work, roofs, slide-outs, house systems, generators, and the cab and chassis underneath. Family-owned in Chino since 1967. Here is what we see on these coaches and how we handle it.

Is Thor Motor Coach the same thing as Thor Industries

Is Thor Motor Coach the same thing as Thor Industries?

No, and this trips up more owners than any other question we get about the brand. Thor Motor Coach builds motorhomes only. Thor Industries is the parent company above it, and it owns a long list of separate RV builders whose products are not Thor Motor Coach products at all. If the badge on the front of your coach says Thor Motor Coach, you are in the right place. If your trailer or fifth wheel carries a different name from that family, it is a different builder with different construction, different suppliers and a different parts path, even though the corporate ownership is shared.

The practical consequence is about parts and service history, not pride of ownership. Coming in and saying "I have a Thor" tells us almost nothing on its own. Telling us it is a Thor Motor Coach Four Winds on a Ford cutaway, or a Palazzo on Freightliner rails, tells us what we are actually working on. If you are not sure which family your coach belongs to, the plate inside a cabinet door will say, and we can sort it out in two minutes on the phone. Either way we can help: our RV brands we service page covers the rest of what comes through the shop.

Which Thor Motor Coach models do you work on?

Which Thor Motor Coach models do you work on

All of them. Thor builds across every motorized class, and the names sort into five groups:

- Gas Class A: Ace, Axis, Vegas, Hurricane, Windsport, Challenger, Miramar. The largest group we see.
- Diesel pushers: Palazzo, Tuscany, Aria, Venetian.
- Class C: Four Winds, Chateau, Quantum, Compass, Gemini.
- Super C: Magnitude and Omni, including the four-wheel-drive versions.
- Class B: Sequence, Tellaro, Rize, Scope, Tranquility, Delano, Twist.

What sits under each of those, and why it changes the service conversation, is laid out on our brands we service page. The short version for a Thor owner: the Super C models are the outlier. They ride on a medium-duty truck chassis instead of a van cutaway, so below the floor they behave like a medium-duty truck and we diagnose them that way, even though the coach above looks like a large Class C.

Older coaches are welcome and make up a good share of what comes through. Thor has sold in volume for a long time, so the fifteen and twenty-year-old examples are plentiful, and the ones with a sound structure are very often worth doing properly.

What actually goes wrong on a Thor Motor Coach?

Most of what fails on any coach was not built by the company on the badge, and that is covered on our [brands we service](/brands-we-service/) page. What follows is what we see specifically on these.

The exterior graphics, before anything else.

Thor's volume coaches are finished in gelcoat with large printed decal graphics rather than full body paint, and that finish has a shorter life in this climate than a painted one. Decals fade, the edges lift, the clear over them crazes, and the gelcoat underneath chalks unevenly so that pulling a failed decal leaves a visible outline. This is the single most common reason a Thor owner calls us, and it has real options. See the next section.

The cabover and the cab-to-coach joint on Class C models.

The seam where a factory van cab meets a coach body built behind it is a working joint, and it is the one sealant line on a Class C that most owns its own maintenance schedule. Water that gets in there shows up as a stain in the cabover bunk long after the leak started.

Slide rooms on the lighter coaches.

Thor puts a lot of slides into coaches built to a price, and the in-wall electric systems on the lighter models are the ones we adjust most often. The tell is a room that starts to rack, one corner leading the other by an inch or two. Catching it at an inch is an adjustment. Running it anyway until it binds is a repair. Our RV slide-out repair page covers that work.

Generators on coaches that get used twice a year.

This is not a Thor problem, it is an everybody problem, and it lands here because these coaches sell in volume to owners taking two trips a season. Our RV generator service page has the detail.

Roof penetrations rather than roof membranes.

On most of these we open up, the membrane is fine and the failure is at a vent flange, an antenna base or a seam where the sealant shrank and split. Our RV roof repair and replacement page walks through how that gets judged.

My Thor's decals are cracking and lifting. What are the options?

There are three, and which one makes sense depends on the gelcoat underneath, not on how bad the graphics look.

$

Replace the graphics.

If the gelcoat is sound and the color has held, the old decals come off, the surface is corrected, and new graphics go on. This is the least expensive route and it is the right one on a newer coach.

$

Paint the affected sections.

If the gelcoat has chalked where the decals were, or the coach has a repair or a panel that will never match, painting the sections in question and blending into the original finish gets a consistent result without repainting the whole coach.

$

Full body paint.

On a coach the owner intends to keep, this is the route that resets the exterior completely, and it is the one that needs a booth long enough to lay a full coach down in one pass rather than in halves. Ours is 40 feet and enclosed, which is why coaches come to Chino for this work from across the region. We use PPG products and match to the existing finish where a repair is blending into original paint, including finishes that have already faded.

The reason this comes up so much here is straightforward. A coach that lives outdoors in the Inland Empire takes year-round UV plus a summer that heat-cycles the surface every day, and printed graphics give up before painted panels do. Owners who run the 10 out toward the desert or the 15 toward Vegas add road film and stone chipping on top of that. Which of the three routes is right is a decision we make with the coach in front of us, and we will show you the surface and explain what we are seeing before quoting anything. The full picture is on our RV paint and body repair page.

If the damage came from an accident rather than from the sun, that is a different path. We build the estimate, document the damage and work the supplement directly with your adjuster, in house. Our RV insurance claims page covers how that runs.

Do you service the cab and chassis under a Class C or Super C Thor

Do you service the cab and chassis under a Class C or Super C Thor?

Yes. We cover the Ford and Chevrolet cutaway chassis under the Class C models, the Ford F-53 gas chassis under the Class A coaches, the medium-duty truck chassis under the Super C models, and the diesel chassis under the pushers, on our RV chassis service side of the shop. Oil and fluid service, brakes, suspension and transmission work. This is capability rather than a manufacturer certification claim, and we will always tell you plainly which is which.

The reason it is worth asking about on a Thor specifically is the paperwork. A cutaway Class C left the factory as two vehicles with two records, and owners who bought used frequently have a coach history and no chassis history at all. Nobody can tell you when the transmission fluid was last done by looking at the coach. If you do not know, we would rather establish a baseline than assume one, and that is a cheaper conversation than the one that follows a failure on the 15.

Do you offer mobile RV repair or house calls?

No. McBride's is an in-shop facility at 13788 Oaks Ave in Chino, and we do not send technicians out to a driveway or a storage lot. On this kind of work that is not a limitation worth apologizing for. Paint and graphics need an enclosed booth, a slide needs the coach level and supported, and a generator needs to be run under load to tell you anything useful. Bring the coach to Chino and the whole repair happens in one building.

Frequently asked questions about Thor Motor Coach service

Do I have to use a Thor dealer?

Only while the manufacturer is paying. Inside the coverage period the manufacturer decides where a covered repair happens, so that call starts with them. Graphics, paint, collision and anything you are funding yourself is your choice of shop, and that is most of what comes here.

Can you match my coach's graphics if only one panel is damaged?

Usually, and it depends on age. A recent scheme is often still available as replacement film. On an older coach the printed colors have shifted in the sun and a new panel of film will not match what is beside it, which is where painting the section and blending becomes the better answer.

My coach is a Class B van. Is that too small to bother with?

No. We take the Sprinter, Transit and ProMaster based models as coaches, meaning the conversion, the house systems and the body, plus the chassis service the van underneath still needs.

I bought it used and the previous owner had work done somewhere else. Is that a problem?

No, and it is most of what we see. Bring whatever paperwork came with it. Where there is none, we start by looking rather than by guessing.

Where are you?

13788 Oaks Ave, Chino, CA 91710, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. We sit where the 60 meets the 71, which puts us inside a comfortable tow or drive from most of the Inland Empire and North Orange County.

Labor rate is kinda high so I’d only use them for the stuff I couldn’t do myself. Overall good experience. Seemed like it was there longer than needed could’ve been waiting on parts not sure. I’d use them again. - 6/17/2026

I took my 1997 renovation project Fleetwood PaceArrow in for major mechanical service. I also paid for an hour of inspection on my failed slide out and got a great quote on the labor and parts for when I'm ready to invest in that repair next. I was a little weary initially that the service price on the phone when I called was told to me as around $500 range and then in person at drop-off the price was actually around $900 for the major service. But the girl who took my appointment over the phone had warned me that she was new and wasn't certain of the prices on anything. The service was great and I'm glad I chose to continue despite the wide price difference to what I was anticipating. Mike and Danny are stellar, and I know the place I'll be bringing my renovation back to with any repair needs in the future that I can't handle myself. The quotes for the slide out, and suggested drive train work, were both also very reasonable. - 6/04/2026

Took my toy hauler for an estimate to fix slide, generator and transfer fuel pump. Parts needed to be ordered and since I had a trip coming up I picked up my trailer. When parts arrived took it back and it was completed in 2 days. Their staff is very friendly. What I really like about them is their scheduling. Gave me a date and time for both drop offs and pick ups. I was very satisfied with their work and highly recommend them. - 3/12/2026
